Your company takes care of them but adds their monetary value to your CTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, it is an expense for the company and hence, could be added to CTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Interest-free loans, if any in CTC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Banking companies like ICICI allow their employees to get car\/home loans at highly subsidized rates and then add the amount equal to the difference between the market and the subsidized interest rate to the employee&#8217;s CTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interest that you did not pay (actually saved using a subsidized rate) is a benefit for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t take the loan, you won&#8217;t get this benefit, but it is anyway added to your CTC. Be careful while accepting the offer letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-08a382f2-ab57-46f0-ac35-35daa4162b2c alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>NOTE: The differential amount of benefit i.e. the money you save with a subsidized rate of interest is taxable. It depends on your company policy if they bear the tax or pass it on to you.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Food Coupons \/ Subsidized meals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many MNC employers offer <strong>free lunch<\/strong> and evening snacks at the workplace. No lunch is free in this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/am22tech.com\/food-coupons\/\">meal vouchers (or food coupons) help you save income tax<\/a> too.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-86174a89-91e9-40b9-b4bb-005101a940fc alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>NOTE: Normally, you may not get this amount in-hand (as cash) even if you opt-out of eating in the employer&#8217;s cafeteria.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Company Leased Accommodation (CLA)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your employer might provide you with company-paid accommodation or pay rent to the landlord directly, saving you from the tension of finding a home and negotiating rent deals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a title=\"Tax On Company Leased Accomodation \u2013 Perquisite Value Of CLA\" href=\"\/\/am22tech.com\/tax-on-company-leased-accomodation\/\">monetary value of CLA, which is taxable<\/a>, is added to your CTC, which is normally the <strong>rent and <a rel=\"nofollow noindex sponsored nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Amazon Furniture\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2ZD8HFj\" data-linkid=\"173040\" data-nojs=\"1\" data-shortcode=\"true\">furniture<\/a> cost<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Medical, Life Insurance premiums paid by the company<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Group medical and life insurance policies by your employer give you much better and more comprehensive coverage than individual ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost is added in CTC and you can claim it for income tax rebate while filing ITR.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-2f13e0dd-3bf3-4bd5-8be9-52fc0c6b0dda alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>You will never be asked to pay a premium but in reality, you would have paid it as part of the group plan bought by your employer.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"blockquote\" class=\"wp-block-quote bg-warning is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Free Cabs \/ Taxi for Office commute<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You would be lured to a new job with the option of FREE transportation to the office. It is not free even if it is subsidized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most employers would add it to your salary package (CTC).<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-61a89c63-19f6-4f4d-9e66-b9480ef75902 alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>Free or subsidized transport is still taxable either as FBT (Fringe Benefit Tax) paid by the employer or as your income tax if the employer passes it on to you.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"blockquote\" class=\"wp-block-quote bg-warning is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Income tax savings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes companies offer you some benefits that are tax-free for you but are taxable to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example:<br \/>If you receive <em>per diem<\/em> allowances, they are subjected to FBT (Fringe benefits tax). It is supposed to be paid by your employer and not you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some companies do add the value of FBT in your CTC, which you, as an employee, would be liable to pay if your company does not pay it.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-58549b87-7c0e-4413-a3a3-31d9cc612991 alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>FBT tax-saving added to CTC is a virtual amount that you will never receive in your hand.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"blockquote\" class=\"wp-block-quote bg-warning is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/am22tech.com\/per-diem-allowance-taxable-in-india\/\">Unspent Per Diem Allowance Received Abroad Are Taxable In India<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7. Office Space Rent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You must have heard about FAT pay packages (several crores for a fresher) that IIM (Indian Institute Of Management) or IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) graduates receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A deep look at their break-up of CTC would reveal the work cubicle rent too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example:<br \/>If the company is spending INR 7000 per month on the cubicle that you would sit in at your work location, they would add the yearly rent to your CTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-e3642734-9656-4f9c-ae4e-6722ea0ffa09 alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>Your work location rent is also part of FAT CTC packages.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"blockquote\" class=\"wp-block-quote bg-warning is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employee Retirement Saving Contributions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Payments made to your <strong>long-term savings<\/strong> account by your <strong>employer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Superannuation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pre-defined amount is contributed every month to your superannuation account, mostly offered by multinational companies as a way of saving for retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can withdraw it after you retire or at the time of leaving the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most employers do not directly give you cash on separation though. You get the option of converting the amount into some kind of insurance policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Employer Provident fund Contribution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most employers contribute <strong>12%<\/strong> (called PF) of the basic salary every month to the employee&#8217;s Provident fund account, shown in CTC. An employee also contributes 12% (called VPF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a title=\"EPF vs PPF Vs VPF With Respect To CTC And Salary Slip\" href=\"\/\/am22tech.com\/compare-provident-fund\/\">Difference between Employer PF, Employee PF (Called VPF) and PPF<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n\t\t<div  class=\"block-e0b799b8-bb75-4c17-ae6d-456b0c521b3b alert alert-primary\" role=\"alert\">\r\n\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t<div>\n\n<p>Employer PF is part of CTC not shown on Salary Slip. It is NOT counted as part of your earnings and hence not taxed.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t \r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"blockquote\" class=\"wp-block-quote bg-warning is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.
