Examples of valid reasons for extending PR entry date:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#1 Pregnant Wife<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Many families have a situation where they cannot travel as the lady in the house is expecting to deliver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are planning to request an extension, you should send the doctor’s travel recommendation on official letterhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#2 Kid Study Completion – Exams<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can wait till your kid completes a particular standard or year in your home country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make your case stronger, it is better to send the official letter from the school principal in your email to Australia immigration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#3 Medical Condition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Make sure that you have declared your medical condition while applying for your Australia PR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If this is a new condition, then you can request your date change with the doctor’s letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#4 Coronavirus Travel Bans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You should be easily able to get an extension with Coronavirus travel bans in place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most people are getting an automated reply email from Australian immigration which says that you can enter before the end of your Australian PR’s 5-year term anytime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe that this is an exception and Australian immigration officers at the airport will understand your situation and should allow you to enter Australia even after your IED date has passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do not think there are any supporting documents required unless specifically requested by the immigration officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DIBP IED Extension Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DIBP is usually pretty strict with the Initial Entry Date (IED) and clearly, mentions that **cannot be changed or extended** once the visa is granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visa holder must enter Australia before the date specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your visa can be canceled if you do not enter by the initial entry date unless exceptional and compelling reasons have prevented them from traveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IED extension facilitation letter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Australian immigration department sends an official letter which shows a new extended entry date. This letter is called the ‘IED facilitation letter’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will be asked to show this letter at immigration check after landing at Australian airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOTICE TO GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION VISA HOLDERS ABOUT TRAVELLING IN BREACH OF THEIR VISA\u2019S INITIAL ENTRY DATE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grant of your General Skilled Migration visa included the following visa condition:
8504 The holder must enter Australia as the holder of the visa to which the condition applies before a date specified by the Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This condition requires that initial entry into Australia by each visa holder be made before the date specified in the \u201cVisa Grant Notice\u201d provided to you when your visa was granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Skilled Migration is aware that you and\/or your family members who were granted a visa as part of your application may not comply with this condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Failure to comply with visa conditions can render a visa liable for cancellation under the Migration Act 1958 and visa holders are encouraged to make their first entry by the initial entry date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
